Once again me and a team from Region Västerbotten, Sweden participated in a program on youth health, especially what is described as the ”tripple threat” – gender based violence (GBV), teenage pregnancies and HIV/AIDS in a destructive combination. The partnership also adress mental health among youth as societal challenge.
In this program that was carried out September 16th-20th 2024 in Homa Bay County two teams from Region Västerbotten participated in the program. The first team contained representatives for management and coordination functions. The second team contained practioners working with youth health at Region Västerbotten. The second team travelled to Homa Bay for the first time within a new project – ”Peer Learning Practioner Project”.
The week in Homa Bay was very fruitful and rewarding for both parties since it provided everyone with a good overview of the health systems in both countries as well as learning experiences from different levels of the health system.
I appreciate working with so many professionals with a broad and long experience of health work at the local and regional level. My role has been the one of project management and facilitation of dialogue between the parties.
I have mentioned this in earlier posts, but it needs to be said that I am contracted by Region Västerbotten for assisting the partners in the work that they are doing together. The project is funded by Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD).
Region Västerbotten will host the team from Homa Bay County in Sweden in a few weeks – September 6th-11th 2024.
