On October 27th-November 1st representatives for Local Governments in South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia and Sweden met for a training on climate action organised by the funder Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD).

The Local Governments represented were The City of Cape Town, Saldahna Bay Municipality, Entebbe Municipality, Kisumu County, Mombasa County, Machakos County, Karlskoga Municipality, Strängnäs Municipality, Region Västerbotten, Umeå Municipality and Lidköping Municipality.

The training included lectures, dialogues, study visits and peer learning activities. The content of the training was comprehensive and of high relevance for Local Governments who try to mitigate and adapt to climate change in the way that are necessary in their own local context.

I was there as contracted representative for Center for Rural Medicine, Region Västerbotten who is coordinating the partnership with Umeå Municipality and the County Governments of Kisumu, Siaya, Busia, Migori and Homa Bay, Kenya.

Next training session in the international training program will take place in Lusaka, Zambia in April 2025.
