Kajiado County Government, Kenya and The City of Umeå are now in the final year of a project aiming at producing policies and plans for sustainable waste and water management in Kajiado County based on a rights-based perspective on development. The program March 11th-15th 2019 started with workshops and study visits in Umeå and ended with meetings and study visits in Stockholm; Kenyan Embassy, The Swedish Delegation for the 2030 Agenda, The Swedish Parliament and entreprenurs working with organic waste for soil improvement. The delegation representing Kajiado County Government also experienced the biggest children´s and youth mobilization for climate justice the world has ever seen March 15th when children and youth demonstrated for their rights to a sustainable future in the streets of Stockholm (as well as in more than 100 countries all over the world). This mobilization has been inspired by the Greta Thunberg, a 16-year old world famous activist for climate justice. The photo is from the Kenyan Embassy in Stockholm with the Kenyan ambassador Mr. Joe Sang in the middle. The delegation from Kajiado County was headed by chief officer Mr. James Sankale. ADEP is supporting the partners in this collaboration as an advisor and facilitator. The partnership is funded by The Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD), in the framework of Municipal Partnership Program (MPP).
