June 29th – July 1st 2021, The County Government of Machakos, Kenya and Robertsfors Municipality invited stakeholders to a special dissemination forum on gender equality.
The partners presented results from the project ”Action for Gender Equality” that was launched 2018 and funded by Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD). The project was decided during an inceptionphase were the partners jointly analyzed challenges and how to work in a development project.
The results are increadible! The Machakos County Government has adopted a policy for gender equality and presented their strategy and activities that has been done and will be done. The final day of the conference they will also open the new Rescue Center for victims of Gender-based Violence (GBV).
The conference gathered duty bearers and rights holders from all sectors of society, and recieved support from the political level in Machakos County.
Robertsfors has also done their ”home work” and adopted a new plan for development based on the UN Development Goals, in which gender equlity is foundational.
The collaboration started 15 years ago and have benefited the partners in so many ways. It has also brought international attention through a number of activities.
