On May 8th, I arrived back home in Umeå after participating in a program on youth inclusion in the City of Umeå, Sweden, Tromsø Municipality and Harstad Municipality, Norway and Cape Agulhas Municipality, South Africa.

It was rewarding experience and opportunity to learn how municipalities in Sweden, Norway and South Africa are working for youth inclusion based on contextual analysis and conditions, however with the same aim of improving the work from a rights-based perspective.

I was contracted as consultant supporting the City of Umeå and Cape Agulhas Municipality in a project funded by Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD).

The project will be finalized 2026. The program in Tromsø and Harstad included discussion on potential future parterships between the municipalities that were present in the program.

I would like to expresse a word of thanks to the City of Umeå and Cape Agulhas whom I have collaborated with since the start of this collaboration, and also Tromsø Municipality and Harstad Municipality who have been excellent hosts in their city. I am also impressed by the fantastic youth and youth leaders in Tromsø and Harstad who are pushing for change through creativity, endurance, intelligence and passion.
