With support from Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) Machakos County Government in Kenya and Robertsfors Municipality has agreed on working for gender equality and against gender based violence through an approach that customizes policy frameworks on gender equality for each partner, and through various capacity building interventions with and for stakeholders. The workshops where held in Machakos County September 4th-9th 2017 with support from the newly elected deputy governor for Machakos County. I participated as senior advisor.
November 22nd-24th 2017 an important international conference on pacifism, revolution, security and politics will be held at University of Otago, New Zeeland. I am honored to participate at this conference with my paper "Beyond Marginalization of Pacifism and Nonviolence" together with other scholars and activists from different continents. The conference is organized by The National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies and supported by Marsden Fund.
ADEP has now started a collaboration with gender- and mediaorganizations in five african countries; Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia. After a visit by politicians, technical experts and coordinators from The City of Umeå to Kajiado County in Kenya March 2017 decision was made to host a team representing Kajiado County Government and their stakeholders at a program in June 2017 with workshops and study-visits in Stockholm, The City of Umeå, Skellefteå Municipality and Vindeln Municipality. There is a strong commitment from both partners to work for an integrated system for sustainable waste and water management.
