Green Solutions Week in Machakos

With funding from Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, me and Nicholas Nzioka from Machakos Municipality coordinated a conference on sustainable development for local authorities in Kenya, development partners and specially invited guests. The week were organized by Machakos municipality, Robertsfors Municipality, Association of Local Government Authorities of Kenya (ALGAK) and Sida. The dates for the week was April 17-20th, 2011.

Social Sustainability and Human Development

ADEP contributed with an analysis on social sustainability and human development in relation to international political economy at the development days for the consultants at Esam AB - a committed group of professionals for sustainable development with decades of collective experience.

Climate Justice Dialogue

At two public events during a week for sustainability in Umeå (SEE), ADEP contributed with knowledge and perspectives on climate justice. The first event was a public lecture. At the second event ADEP took part in a panel at a conference at Hotel Scandic Plaza in Umeå.

Wind Power and Social Impacts

With an assignment from Ownpower Projects AB and Enetjärn Natur AB, ADEP has done an investigation on a wind power project and its impact on lifestyle and consequences for the Sami people, who are are recognized as indigenous people, and affilliated with reindeer husbandry.


At a special course, on the summer university, held by the Department of Culture and Media Studies, Umeå University, students were introduced to the postcolonial field. The course were done in collaboration with Ph.D Olof Lönneborg.
